Food Issues_IATEFL

 "The idea behind this month is to raise awareness in your classes and your schools about an issue relating to food."   
IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language) has just launched the discussion theme for October : "Teaching food with a conscience".


Among the possible issues, I chose: sustainability and prepared a vocabulary activity that gives a quick overview on small-scale agriculture in the northeast of Brazil.

The file below has been designed to be a complement to any food-related class and the vocabulary range is suitable for lower-intermediate levels.

The goals are:
*explain the importance of manioc and maiz as major ingredients in the Brazilian culture,
* introduce typical dishes prepared with them
* promote a discussion via QR codes with follow up questions
